Sioux Falls Human Resources

Here at the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System, we endeavor to achieve the principals established by the VA to hiring the very best! Working with and for America's veterans is a privilege, and we pride ourselves on the quality of care we provide. If you feel you have what it takes to serve America's veterans, please consider applying for one of our available open positions.

As the nation's largest employer, the federal government maintains its own job search site, USAJOBS, and is naturally an important site to be familiar with if you are serious about applying for a federal job. You can search USAJOBS to find thousands of available Federal jobs, and use our search tools to narrow your results down to find your perfect job. Focus your search on jobs that best match your interests and for which you are likely to be qualified. The Office of Personnel Management initiated USAJOBS website to respond to the challenges put into place by the Presidential Memorandum on Improving the Federal Recruitment and Hiring Process, issued on May 11, 2010.

Please click on the "Vacancies at Sioux Falls VA Health Care System" link above to see the current open positions. This link will take you to the USAJOBS web site where our vacancy announcements are posted.

Applying for a Job

Search and review the “Search Results pages,” decide which jobs you are interested in, read the job announcement, make sure you are eligible to apply, and follow the instructions under “How to Apply”. There you will find a list of any additional forms required and a contact name and phone number at the hiring agency. Plan ahead and take time to carefully prepare your application. When you find a position that you would like to apply for, select “Apply Online”, located on the floating box to the right of the job announcement.

If you need assistance with the application process, please download the USAJOBS Instructions on the upper right side of this screen. This guide provides instructional assistance to help you thru the application process within USAJOBS and the Application Manager program.

Hint: If this is your first time using the USAJOBS program please allow yourself at least 2 hours to get your application information together within USAJOBS. It is highly recommended to prepare your account within USAJOBS before searching for open positions.

VA Job Applications and Forms

Application instructions specific to each job posting can be found at the end of the announcement in the “How to Apply” section. Most positions require you to apply online, while some healthcare positions allow you to merely submit a resume/curriculum vitae to be considered. Each announcement also includes a “Required Documents” section that lists all the forms and documents required to be considered.

VA has several different application forms based on your occupation type. If the job announcement requires a particular application in the “Required Documents” section of the announcement, look in the table below to find the correct form for your occupation, as well as additional required forms.

Responding to a Job Announcement

Be sure to follow the “How to Apply” and “Required Documents” instructions given in the job announcement. They are your primary guide for responding to a posted opening. The vast majority of positions require an online application with the exception of a few healthcare occupations therefore it is important to fully complete the online application process after which you should receive a system-generated confirmation via email.

If you are unable to comply with the application instructions and require assistance or if you have additional questions, you should contact the point of contact in the “Agency contact information” section at the bottom of the announcement.
