Adaptive Sports Program

Royal C. Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital
Adaptive Sports  Program
The Adaptive Sports Program is for enrolled Royal C. Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital Veterans with mental or physical barriers which limit their participation in sports.  The program works with community partners to provide local adaptive sports training and events in the Sioux  Falls area.  Our program currently includes cycling, golf, kayaking, archery, boccia ball, fly tying/fishing, lacrosse, sled hockey and downhill skiing. We also assist qualified Veterans in obtaining adaptive sports equipment to facilitate ongoing sports participation.  The overall goal of the program is to instill optimism and give Veterans with disabilities a renewed sense of purpose and hope for the future.

If you are interested in participating in our adaptive sports program, please talk to your VA primary care provider.  All Veterans must have medical clearance to participate. For additional information about local adaptive sports opportunities, please contact the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital Recreation Therapy department.
