Program Description
The residency is designed to develop practitioners with a high level of skills required to manage patient care as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team. Residents will participate in established disease management clinics including: anticoagulation, diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, tobacco cessation, thyroid disorders, CHF and COPD. Residents will have learning experiences in the following areas: inpatient/outpatient staffing, ambulatory care, internal medicine, infectious disease, mental health/pain, long-term care (Community Living Center), pharmacoeconomics, and management. The Sioux Falls VA Health Care System is a teaching institution that allows residents to participate in teaching and precepting on-site.
